Located near Bancroft ON, Silent Lake provincial park offers lots of year around fun. A tranquil lake with lots of hiking trails, swimming and paddling provides for a refreshing weekend trip.

Silent lake is about 220 km from Toronto, so we had to make a charge stop along the way. The kids wanted to stop in Bowmanville at the Tim Hortons, and as there happens to be a Nissan dealership nearby we stopped and charged the car for the hour or so it took to refuel the crew.
After Bowmanville the next stop was Peterborough where we stopped to charge. The car needed about 3 hours to charge so we plugged in at the King street Parking garage which has a pair of Flo stations. We took a nice walk around town and admired the Peterborough lift locks. After which we had dinner and hit the road for another hour or so and got to Silent lake in time to setup the camp before dark.

We forgot to book an electric camp site, but thankfully the staff at the park allowed us to park by one of their maintenance buildings which happens to have a plug at every parking spot. Nearby Bancroft also offers lots of fun things to do. There is a public charging station at the town hall, which we used while exploring the nearby Heritage museum and yes dig for treasure at the CN rock pile. The kids did find some interesting rocks, which Im told sadly are not gold.
On our way back we took a cruise through the lift locks while our car charged at the Flo station in the King st. Parking garage. Once we got back to the car after our cruise, it was fully charged. By slowing down and taking secondary roads we made it home from Peterborough without charging after a fun filled weekend.
