Tremblant ski trip

Mnt. Tremblant is a big step up from the “Ontario ski-hills”, with almost thrice the vertical of the biggest public ski hill in Ontario. We took the leaf skiing over a holiday weekend. Mnt. Tremblant is about 570 km from Toronto, just under the 650 km/day limit for our new (to us) 2018 Nissan Leaf S. So lets hit the slopes.

We picked up the kids after school, and planned on staying the first night in Bellville, ON. There is a L2 charger at the Bellville Best western by the 401 and the Leaf can make the journey from Toronto to Bellville without charging. Just in case, we mapped out a Flo station close to the Bellville Best Western in case the charger was occupied or not working. But no need, the wonderful folks at Best Western took great care of the charger and it worked flawlessly.

Leaving Bellville, we took hwy 37 to Hwy 7 and cruised along Hwy 7 to Carleton Place. A pair of Ivy chargers topped up our Leaf in Carleton Place as we fueled ourselves at a nearby Tim Hortons. This was enough to make it to Tremblant, but we were unsure of the charging situation at Tremblant having never been there. So plugshare guided us to a Flo L3 charger just out of Gatenau where we “filled up” the leaf. As it turned out, Tremblant has ample charging, and we found that our hotel (Sommet des Neges) even had a few chargers in the parking garage which we used to charge up the leaf for the return.

We spent an extended weekend skiing, and greatly enjoyed Tremblant which has much more to offer than excellent slopes. My son really enjoyed the Nansen, an epic 6km downhill run. And also a curious combination of Nansen Haut-Desseres-Chalumeu-La Carriole which took us around the other side of the mountain through some of the condo developments.

After a fun time skiing, it was time to head back to the Toronto. Since Tremblant does not offer night Skiing, a curious option is to head out after the slopes close at 4pm. My performance model predicts a 9 hour haul back to Toronto including the necessary charge stops at Carleton place and Bellville. This should land you back in Toronto at about 1 am. But we were tired after all our skiing, and decided to stop over in Ottawa, where several hotels do offer chargers including a Best Western in Kanada (see plugshare for more options here). The next day we made it back to Toronto in about 7 hours, with charge stops at the Ivy station Caledon Place, and a Flo charger in Norwood.
