While a favorite summertime destination, Sandbank provincial park offers lots of fun year around. In fact, one surf-blogger https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Sandbanks-Provincial-Park claims the best surfing conditions are in the late fall. Its an easy drive from Toronto along Hwy 401 East, with ample charging along the way, certainly a wonderful spot for a weekend getaway.

It is possible to do the 220 km or so from Toronto to Sandbanks without charging, but alas, the kids got hungry once we passed the Big Apple. At the time of this writing, only a single Tesla Destination charger is available at the Big Apple. No worries, it so happens that I have a Tesla to J1772 adapter, which I used to charge my 2018 Nissan Leaf as we feasted on the yummy food available at the Big Apple. On the way back however, the charger was busy, so we charged in Bowmanville instead at a Nissan dealership while we snacked at a nearby Tim Hortons.
We did this trip in November, hence Sandbanks, which is often a very busy provincial park was fairly quiet. Also, we stayed at the Jaques cottage which is nearly impossible to get in the summer season, but merely difficult in the off season. I did put the roofbox on the car, as we brought our bulky wetsuits, although in the end, everyone was too cold to try some surfing.

A friend has a cottage in Gananoque, which we decided to visit during our stay. This added about 300 km to our Saturday plans, but as there are several fast chargers near Kingston, no problem. Besides we had to stop somewhere to grab a tasty treat to share.
