About 200 km North-East of Toronto sits Petroglyphs provincial park. Home to unique petroglyps carved into stone by first nations people about a millenia ago. The park also has many hikes through the forested areas nearby but is a lovely “half-day” excursion that can be tacked on to other trips through the region, but there is plenty to see to justify a trip out from Toronto.

There is ample charging near Toronto, but once you leave Peterbourough, the selection gets a little thin. We usually like to stop in Clarington for coffee, charging at a nearby Nissan Dealership. In my 2018 Nissan Leaf, I did a fast charge after lunch at the Tim hortons Ivy station, as I find Ivy a fairly reliable network that is well maintained (assuming you have at least $15 in your account). The leg from Peterbourough to Petroglyphs is about 60km, so best to leave Peterbourough with a reasonably full battery for the 120km or so there and back.

On your way in to see the Petroglyphs you will find lake McGinnes one of the few meromictic lakes in Ontario, namely that it does not see seasonal turnover which makes for interesting colors in the lake. We did this trip in the fall, tacked onto a camping trip, even with the roofbox to store some camping gear, we had no range issues in our leaf and we made it home with plenty of charge to spare.
Wow very helpful and cool.
