Niagara Falls

One of the largest waterfalls in the world, Niagara falls is a must on many bucket lists. Its only 130 km from Toronto so well within reach of many EVs. Lots of charging is available in Niagara falls, and along the way. Several wineries dot the Niagara falls area, not to mention lots of historical sites (some with charging) hence lots to do to fill a weekend.

Ive done this trip in both my 2015 Nissan Leaf and my 2018 Nissan Leaf. Owning to the shorter range of the 2015 Nissan Leaf, we did add a charging stop, for lunch near the Metro in Grimsby. That particular Metro has a pizzeria onsite, along with picnic tables providing a lovely lunch as we gave it an hour or so to charge up. Nearby Balls falls also offers charging if you prefer a nature hike of a beautiful waterfall for your charging stop.

Once we got to Niagara falls, we parked in the city lot on Kitchener street. There are four 6 kW L2 chargers there, which will fill up my Leaf in 4-6 hours. While the charging is free, the parking is not. As it happened, the kids really wanted to go to the nearby Fallsview indoor water park, after soaking for 5 or so hours, I had ample charge to make it back to Toronto the next day.

After a wonderful weekend enjoying Niagara falls, it was time to head back to the grind. We all had a wonderful time during our wintertime visit during the Festival of Lights (source). A fun filled EV road-trip even in the wintertime is certainly quite possible and a lot of fun.
