Ferris Provincial Park

Ferris Provincial park sits in the town of Campelford about 190 km east of Toronto. Its an easy drive that I have done in both my 2015 Nissan Leaf and 2018 Leaf. A lovely summer camping trip over a weekend, with plenty to do. Hiking in the park, paddling and exploring the town of Campelford via the pedestrian suspension bridge that links the park to the town, to name a few things to do.

In my 2015 Leaf I needed one charging stop, but wound up making two as the kids got hungry around Bowmanville and (oddly enough) again around the Big apple. Since then, the Port Hope Onroute has added a number of Ivy stations and Shell Re-charge has added fast chargers in Bowmanville. There is also a L2 charger in Campelford itself. We booked an electric campsite, using our adapter to charge via the 30 A RV outlet (TT-30) as discussed in this post.

To charge yourself, the treats at the Big apple are legendary. Campelford is also a “sweet-town”, with what some say is the “best bakery in Canada”. Ferris offers lots of paddling opportunities along the Trent river, with the Ranney Falls being particularly noteworthy and well worth a visit be it on foot or via paddle.

After a lovely weekend, it was time to head back to the grind, we did the same route in reverse, charging again at the Big Apple, and for some more food in Bowmanville.
