Brimacombe

Just east of Toronto sits Brimacombe, for those of us living in the east end of the city, you can get to the hill in as little as half an hour. For me its about 90 km, but its proximity is hard to beat, for the “close-to-the-city” ski-hills, it has one of the bigger verticals around (~ 100 m https://torontosun.com/sports/other-sports/brimacombe-ski-resort-its-close-to-t-o-and-you-will-have-a-blast-on-the-slopes source). Not bad for a short drive.

I did this trip with my 2015 Nissan Leaf, as its an easy hill to get to. We stopped for breakfast in Whitby, charging at the free charger by Whitby Hydro. There are several fast food options nearby, we went with Tims. About an hour later, we hit the hill, and had a blast. We also stopped for about an hour on the way back to add some electrons into the leafs battery, while we could have made it home, the kids got hungry post-skiing.

We all had a great time at Brimacombe. The Bowl chair is a lovely lift with many fun runs for the adventurous skiier, while the other two chairs by the East chalet which are perfect for the beginner skiier. Brimacome after all has been there since 1937, and probably picked up a trick or two in that time. Interestingly enough, its all volunteer run (source).

Skiing is a wonderful way to enjoy life in the winter-time. Far better than video-games for the Kids. The EV charge-stops add a nice layer of fun as you get to discover small communities along the way.
