Ski-fewer got you down? Why not hit the slopes at Mount St. Louis Moonstone? Its only 150 km from Toronto, so an easy day trip, even in a 5 year old 2018 Nissan Leaf. Charging is available (albeit expensive) at the ski-resort so no need to charge really, unless you prefer cheaper charging, there is plenty for all brands in Barrie, about 50 km from Mount St. Louis Moonstone.
Toronto’s winter goes from say December into April, that’s 5 months out of the year, so you really need to make some joy in those months. Skiing is a fine way to pass the time in the winter-time, and Mount St. Louis Moonstone is a fine resort to ski. I put it squarely in the mid-difficulty level category. The blacks are fun enough for the advanced skier, and the greens are gentle enough for the novice. Once the kids graduate from close-by ski resorts (say Dagmar or Snow-valley), why not give Mount St. Louis Moonstone a try?

Given the cost of charging at the resort, its probably best to charge in Barrie, ON. Our 2018 Leaf would require a stop both ways, as 200 km driving legs (from Toronto to Mount St. Louis Moonstone and back to Barrie), are best done with higher speeds and charging (see this post).
In the interest of science, I ponied up and paid $80 or so for access to the L2 charger that’s onsite (and right by the lift so yes, kinda VIP parking fee). This did let me drive straight home without charging although I had to be gentle on the accelerator, it did save some time, and there was traffic anyways. Unlike the drive up, which on an early Sunday morning, had no traffic and hence the ability to be eh, less gentle on the accelerator.
